It was recently leaked by tomshardware.com that Sam Raimi and Robert Rodat are collaborating on a custom treatment for World Of Warcraft. He said it would not be the typical player sucked into the virtual realm of his character film. It’ll be an backdrop on the scale of Lord of the Rings. He was then asked about the angle of the story. • Batman’s Christopher Nolan’s Custom Tumbler Golf Cart 0 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on June 22, 2010 under Prop Lockup
Reaching the end of the web today we found a real eye catcher.  We stumbled upon an exclusive article that the blogger thisisalife.com published.  They are some photos that are beyond cool of a studio back lot cruiser for The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.  A custom golf cart made to look like Batman’s tumbler from the Nolan films.  I’ve seen Hummers and Escalade golf carts but th... more.
  • Tron Legacy is Giving Comic Con Another Go 0 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on June 19, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
One of the reasons you take your film to Comic Con is to allow the studio and director to use it as a litmus test for fan reactions. Comic Con fans can be one of the toughest crowds to see your partially completed product. We fans can practically make or break your film before it's even finished with Avatar being the exception (I still hated it even after seeing 20 minutes of it). The buzz on tha... more.
  • The Hobbit, Shire Set Photos 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on June 18, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Guillermo Del toro may be out but it appears that hasn’t slowed progress on the construction of the Shire set. The images were posted on a German website, HDRF.  The photos were taken before Del Toro made his departure announcement, but rest assured it appears the production is really cranking up and looks like the investment dollars are at work. ... more.

A few chunks and tidbits are flying around concerning the Alien prequel. • Will Tranformers 3 Finally Deliver? 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on June 10, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Spoiler Alert! USATODAY recently spoke with Michael Bay regarding the next Transformers film which is currently shooting.  The film is expect to be released next year and it seems there is an effort to make up for the perceived failure of the last film. The film did very well in the box office and fell only behind Avatar.  "I'll take some of the criticism," says Bay, standing at a set built to... more.
  • Jaws – Original “Bruce” Shark Found in Junkyard 4 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on June 6, 2010 under Prop Lockup
We’re a little late on this, but according to Yahoo Movie Talk Bruce the mechanical shark from Jaws has been located. I’m not sure this is ground-breaking news since for years this has been an accepted non rumored known across many of the fan channels. Regardless, it seems one of three sharks was deposited to a junk yard where it was placed on display as a way to attract customers to the jun... more.
  • Wolverines! A New Red Dawn is Coming 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 27, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Remake fever in Hollywood is still in high gear. Our latest entry is the retread of the 1984 classic "Red Dawn" which starred a host of actors from Patrick Swayze to Charlie Sheen. In case you missed it, the United States is overrun by an invasion of Russian and Cuban troops, and our heroes are a group of high school kids who use their school mascot as their rallying battle cry, "Wolverines!"  Th... more.
  • Another Franchise Goes 3D Arrrr! 2 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 20, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Disney studios has announced they will be releasing "Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides" in Disney Digital 3D.  The 3D appeal is really starting wane on me but I guess it’s great for the kids. Actually, this film might be very appropriate for the 3D for just that aspect! I haven’t walked out of a 3D film yet without feeling cross-eyed and a little head-achy. We wish this film the... more.

  • Nolan’s Inception Trailer Shows Originality 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 14, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
With a plethora of remakes and rehashed material erupting from Hollywood recently, writer and director Chris Nolan may have finally tapped into an original storyline.  From what we see in the trailer, he may deliver the goods. The film stars Leonardo Dicaprio as Cobb -- a corporate psycho spy. My first impression is this is a Philip K. Dick story in the lineage of  Blade Runner and Total Reca... more.
  • CGI Process of Avatar 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 9, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Being a cinefan who has bashed CGI at times, or not exactly appreciated the work that goes into the process, I found the following video and it changed my perception. After watching the featurette, I have a new appreciation for a film of this type. If you notice in the video there is nothing there but chromakey it's very crude in appearance that is a testament to the director, artisans, and ed... more.
  • Nostromo Miniature Rises From the Ashes 3 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 7, 2010 under Prop Lockup
A few years ago I received information that the USCSS Nostromo starship miniature from "Alien" had recently been rediscovered. It was resting as a lawn ornament, decaying and cracking away to mother nature. The model was so far gone that, when the restoration commenced, a complete dead Opossum carcass was found inside of the model. I guess if you have to go, it might as well be in the warm belly ... more.
  • Blue Thunder! Rare Set Photos 7 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on May 2, 2010 under Prop Lockup
We recently unearthed a series of never before seen behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Blue Thunder. We obtained the images from Blue Thunder online. The images were taken by production crew members Gary Mason and Thomas Mason. To date these are probably the best set photos we have found on the net.  After owning a 1/6 scale remote control model from the film, I would have loved to have see... more.
  • Movie Weapons, A Not-So Serious List 5 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on April 21, 2010 under Prop Lockup
Instead of spending hours upon hours and polling fellow MPPC’ers, I decided to come up with a personal list of favorite weapons from the movies. There had to be rules and, being a person who at times despises rules, I felt this warranted some standards for our readers' sake, especially if we expect you to read this. The first rule was that I did not have to like the film -- just the weapon, and ... more.
  • Independence Day Sequel: Fox is Looking to Whip ET’s Ass Again 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on April 5, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
I wanted to sit on this one until I could confirm more rumors on it. It appears Fox is desperately seeking their next blockbuster and now is the time. Although reluctant in some regards, Fox believes, and rightly so, that Will Smith is crucial should they do another film. His $20 million price tag along with 20% of gross is not something that is appealing at this time but Fox is getting antsy.  ... more.
  • David Twohy Confirms Riddick Back for Third Film 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on March 28, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Vin Diesel will be back onboard for a third installment in the Riddick series (since it’s at three we’ll call it a series).  According to Writer-Director David Twohy, the film will be a scaled down version compared to the Chronicles of Riddick that was a big budget attempt in relation to the first film Pitch Black.  Recently Vin Diesel disclosed that the first part of the film would find him... more.
  • TRANSFORMERS 3 IS A GO ! 6 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on March 23, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Transformers 3 is set! The script is in and Transformers 3 is slated to go into production soon. The buzz is the new script will hold true to some story lines and keep the mythology intact.  Although the film series so far is rife with extreme eye candy it should be another fun trip to the theater.  Michael Bay just blasted out a few paragraphs on the official Michael Bay website the status ... more.

  • Alien Prequel Could Be a “Go” 1 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on February 15, 2010 under The MPPC Buzz
Rumors are flying about the Alien prequel recently green-lighted by Fox.  Ridley Scott may be onboard as director for this reload of the franchise, which is expected to be loosely tied to the first film  -  and definitely not related to the recent AVP series.  Initially, Scott was said to be set to produce, but Fox would not give the "go" unless he directed. At The MPPC, we're not sure how th... more.

Named after SONY founder Akio Morita, the Morita smart rifle from Starship Troopers (1997) is rapidly becoming one of science fiction filmdom’s iconic weapons. Not since the pulse rifle from Aliens (1986) has a blank-firing prop made such an impact on fans. It’s no surprise there will be a sequel to this summer's Star Trek reload. Movieweb reported just a week after the film’s release that the new story was in the works.  And to back that up, Zoe Saldana, who plays Uhura, recently disclosed that the new film is in the scripting phase and should begin production about this time next year.  It’s expected to feature Captain Pike and his involve... more.

  • Painting the Masters: The MR Boba Fett Helmets 3 CommentsPosted by Lee Malone on October 1, 2009 under Exclusive
It was after work — I remember it well. I turned on my computer and began the routine of winding down my day, reading email, and surfing the web before dinner. I clicked through to delete some spam, and then I noticed one email in particular. It was a question from Master Replicas.  They wanted to know if I knew of anyone who could paint a Boba Fett helmet. I saw the opportunity flash in front ... more.
