Who cares about Leno when we have a new Conan? The barbarian, that is.
While The MPPC remains firmly in “Coco” O’Brien’s camp, we’re pleased to see a bit of non late-night Conan news. Deadline Hollywood reports that Lionsgate and Millenium Films have picked Jason Momoa to star as Conan the Barbarian in a property re-load on-track to begin filming mid-March in Bulgaria. Although Momoa may not be a household name, many sci-fi fans know him from his five-year role as Ronon on Stargate Atlantis.
In related news, the Latino Review says that the role of Conan’s father has been offered to Mickey Rourke. Rourke has already made a splash into the world of comic book related film properties as Marv inSin City and as Whiplash in the forthcoming Iron Man 2. Rourke definitely had the physique of a battle-hardened warrior in The Wrestler, and it will be interesting to see if he joins the cast.

On the fence. Time will tell. Arnold was a proven ‘bod’ for this part. I’m not seeing the same guns on this cat. And they better get the swords right. The first film had some kick ass production design. And bring the blood!

I might be in the minority, but i think Moama definately has the right look for Conan. Always liked Arnie, but as a childhood fan of the old Robert E Howard books, I always pictured a leaner/meaner/darker skinned Conan. They need to give him the smoldering grey/blue eyes though!! And yeah…they absoulutely have to get the swords right!!!
